New Zealand

Freyberg High School is located in Palmerston North City in the southern portion of the North Island of New Zealand. Palmerston North is just two hours drive north from the capital city, Wellington.

Knowledge City

Palmerston North is a city of 80,000 inhabitants with a very strong focus on education. Named "The Knowledge City", it is the home of Massey University, where 13,000 day students and 20,000 extra-mural students study.

Palmerston North is home to:

• The International Pacific College - a second University.
• Universal College of Learning (UCOL) - a Polytechnic offering a range of degree courses.

It is a safe and prosperous city, with no part of the city more than 15 minutes drive from any other part.

The Region

The city is surrounded by rich farmland and beautiful mountain country, making it the ideal location for one of the major agricultural research centres in the country. It is the base for New Zealand Agricultural Research, Horticulture Research and the Fonterra Research Centre (formerly the New Zealand Dairy Research Institute).
