Freyberg Girls Dominate at Central 6 Sports Tournament
This week, Freyberg joined with five other Central North Island co-ed schools during exam week to compete in a new junior sporting tournament called "Central 6"
Over 100 Year 9 and 10 students in seven Freyberg teams played over 30 games in the inaugural Central 6 tournament. The competition included familiar opposition in Kapiti College Feilding High School and Taradale High School as well as the unfamiliar opposition of Wanganui High School and Havelock North.

Freyberg dominated the girls events, winning Soccer, and Basketball and place 3rd in Hockey. The boys teams managed 3rd placings in Rugby and Hockey, and a proud 5th place in Soccer thanks to a narrow victory over local champions Feilding High School.
Sports Co-ordinator, Rosemary Barsanti was impressed by the good-will between the schools as they cheered and celebrated each of their placings and victories at the final prize giving. Mrs Barsanti wanted to offer "a huge thanks to all of the student referees, to Mishy's Kitchen for catering so well for 550 students, and to all of the amazing staff for organising the draws, rosters and teams"
The other Central 6 events this year are the cultural exchange on the
24th of September and the Summer Sports exchange on Nov 18th.
