Dear Parents and Caregivers
I have decided that the best way to manage learning for the rest of this term with the least disruptions and to release pressure on teaching staff is to roster one year level home each day until Easter.
This means that teachers who would have been teaching a class at that year level that day, can cover for their colleagues who have covid or whose household has to isolate.
As we have a rotating timetable this means that no students would miss more than three classes in any one subject and because teachers know the structure moving forward they can plan their lessons in such a way that learning from home can be well structured on the day students are at home.
Year 9 will be at home Mondays, Year 10 Tuesdays, Year 11 Wednesdays, Year 12 Thursdays and Year 13 Fridays – this starts the week beginning 14th March 2022.
If you son or daughter comes under the Craig Centre umbrella the HOD: Phyllis Burns will be in contact with you.
As we all play our part is restricting the spread, protecting the most vulnerable and reducing hospital numbers I would encourage students to stay at home on the day their year level is rostered off as gathering in the Plaza would rather defeat our purpose.
Of course, the school remains open each day so if you are a critical worker and your child is under 14 and nobody can supervise them at home on the day their year level has no timetabled classes then we will provide a supervised space for them. Please contact the Student Centre DravitskiP@freyberg.ac.nz if you would like us to supervise your son or daughter on a day they would be rostered off.
Nga mihi
