DANCE ACADEMY

The Dance Academy is an extra-curricular opportunity for dance students to further extend their knowledge, technique, and skill base through participating in weekly sessions. Dance Academy students are encouraged to continue training outside of school during Years 9, 10, and 11 to maximise their capabilities.

Each year, Dance Academy students learn a variety of dances that can include Lyrical, Contemporary, Musical Theatre, Jazz, Commerical, and Hip Hop. These are entered into the annual Dance New Zealand Made Interschool competition. Our senior students gain NCEA credits for all live performances at end-of-term dance showcases, school assemblies, roadshows, Showquest, open evenings, and end-of-year prize giving ceremonies.

We also offer opportunities for Dance Academy students to participate in masterclasses given by dance professionals from companies such as the Royal New Zealand Ballet, New Zealand School Of Dance, Atamira Dance Company, Ballet Collective Aotearoa, and Footnote New Zealand Dance as well as attending performances at a discounted cost.

Please Note: Dance Academy auditions are held at the end of the previous year.
